Blackbird Mono – Tribar Arm Rest

FAST HYDRATION – A feature of the Blackbird is the ability to mount any regular or aero water bottle cage to the centre of the rest using pre-drilled mount holes resulting in a simple yet aerodynamic hydration solution.

Wide mono options can have a cage fitted directly onto the mono base allowing a water bottle to sit comfortably between the forearms.  This helps to close the gap between the arms which at some angles will result in better directed airflow.

Narrow mono options require our unique ‘Aerofoil Hydration Mount Stack’ to allow the fitting of a bottle and cage while maintaining a super narrow elbow position.  This neat height adjustable Carbon Fibre stack, a concept and design developed by Revolver, elevates the water bottle to sit above the forearms without obstruction.  Positioned correctly in test conditions this can result in improved overall aerodynamics by reducing the size of the frontal gap above the hands, redirecting airflow around the body.

Mid mono options may or my not require the fitting of the mount stack depending on the size of a riders forearms and the type of water bottle chosen for example a regular round or narrow aero.  If the mount stack is needed it may not require as many height stackers to achieve the optimal clearance positioning.

Pre-drilled versions will assist in fitting but due to the inability to adjust the actual width of a one piece mono base the configurated is ‘Not’ a universal fitting solution.  In almost all cases this configuration will allow at least one bolt each side to be located which in many cases is sufficient to secure a mono armrest due to its inability to rotate like regular paired arm rests.  Pre-drilled are also compatible with all Revolver angled rest wedges but as tribar mounts dictate the actual width of the wedge placement this may result in misalignment requiring hole adjustment.

Un-drilled versions are supplied completely blank without holes or slots for an exact custom fit.  This is a relatively easy task but we recommend a competent bike fitter or mechanic carries out procedure. Simply measure the tribar bolt centres and drill with a regular metal HSS drill bit to match the mount bolt size (5mm or 6mm).  A 2mm pilot hole should be drilled first from the outer face.

AEROFOIL HYDRATION MOUNT STACK.

An optional accessory to be used with the Blackbird mono range that allows the fitting of a water bottle and cage while maintaining a narrower elbow position.  This unique system is height adjustable in 6mm increments by adding or removing the main body CNC Carbon Fibre Aerofoil stackers and using the appropriate bolt lengths to suit.  The stack assembles easily by bolting directly through the mono base using the pre-drilled central mount holes and has a CNC Aluminium top plate to which the bottle cage is then mounted.  This positions the water bottle above the forearms without obstruction and can actually improve airflow around a rider in race positions by reducing the frontal gap above the hands.  A simple way to hydrate and assist fast bottle changeovers.
