Description
WHY CHOOSE DISC BRAKE?
Disc Brake road bikes are set to become the norm within the next few years with many major bicycle manufacturers planning to further develop Disc Brake bikes only, some having made this progressive step already. With benefits of going ‘Disc’ such as superior braking modulation in all weather conditions, greater unity between frameset and wheels which in turn delivering a more efficient overall package and even a greater life expectancy from your wheelset by eliminating rim degradation from pad ware and over heating, a common problem with carbon rims. There’s no down side to choosing Disc Brake!
RIMS – LIGHTER BY DESIGN
Lighter in construction due to the use of the FWS manufacturing method. Filament Winding System (FWS) involves winding a band of carbon fibre filaments around a 3D mould while building up rim thickness gradually and evenly resulting in a more balanced strength within the entire rim. High glass transitional temperature (hiTg) epoxy resins are used in place of regular epoxy resins and are cured at higher temperatures resulting in a greater elimination of minute air pockets within the rim structure, reducing weight, increasing stiffness and impact strength.
AERODYNAMICS – WITHOUT GIMMICKS
Aerodynamically these rims are top performers featuring a wide 26mm outer track width flared at 3 degrees with an 19mm internal track. This combined with a 23 to 25mm tyre creates an excellent aero interface needed to penetrate the air with the least amount of disturbance. A shallow arc rim wall transitions into a blunt rounded inner edge profile to create a balanced overall shape that’s incredibly aerodynamic and remains efficient even at higher Yaw angles while maintaining superb handling characteristics and working to your advantage whatever the conditions.
HUBS – DT SWISS
When choosing a hubset we can’t look beyond the Swiss giant. The clue to the quality is right there in the name and with years of trouble free experience building with them why change? A choice of two models are available, the mid range 350 Straightpull and the Pro/Elite benchmark 240 EXP Straightpull set.
*DT SWISS 350, one of the best mid range hubsets available sharing features with its big brother the 240 model. Excellent quality and renowned for its durability as you’d expected from one of the worlds biggest brands, making it the most popular hub choice throughout our range of builds.
*DT SWISS 240, in our opinion one of the best hubsets money can buy. A benchmark within the industry due to its legendary durability and ease of servicing. Widely used within the Pro/Elite ranks of Cycling and Triathlon as well as being the turn to hub for many of the biggest wheel brands around.

An area not to be overlooked when considering overall performance. All Kronostok FWS wheelsets are laced with Sapim CX Ray spokes and sils brass lock nipples seated on stainless steel washers. With a reputation as one of the strongest spokes available the CX Ray also boasts unrivalled aerodynamics and corrosion resistance. The number one choice for a fast durable wheelset. Simply the best spoke out there.
THE SIGN OF QUALITY
We’re committed to building reliable durable wheelsets, which is why all Kronostok FWS models have undergone and passed the rigorous testing procedures necessary to be awarded UCI approval. This allows their use in all UCI (road), ITU & ETU (Triathlon/Duathlon) drafting events which has become increasingly important to many Age Group Triathletes as well as competitive road riders.
